Free Service!? Yes you heard that right. Volvo his now offering free factory scheduled-maintenance packages to its warranty coverage on Certified Pre-Owned vehicles. The company's new Protection Plus+ coverage for used vehicles, and already includes "six years or 100,000 miles of zero-deductible replacement" or "repair for defective components, six year or 100,000 miles of roadside assistance, a Carfax buy-back guarantee, and transferability between owners."
So-called certified pre-owned (CPO) vehicles (or certified used vehicles) often end up attracting new buyers, as they can be better deals than new cars. With a warranty equivalent to those offered on new vehicle, this will only help the matter.
While these vehicles typically cost more than late-model used equivalents, automakers put them through intense inspection paces, replacing partially worn brake pads, missing trim pieces, etc. This brings the vehicles back to "like-new condition."
During a time when new-car sales have flagged, the CPO market remains strong. "Used" cars posted "nine months this year with market-wide year-over-year CPO gains," according to Autodata figures cited by Auto Remarketing.
Volvo was also named the "best Premium Certified Pre-Owned program for 2011" from IntelliChoice, which evaluates all the CPO programs annually.
